1-2

Galatsi Stadium

Kick-Off 16:30

The second division of the EPSA league started two weeks after the first division and saw PAS Galatsi face Psychiko at home. Galatsi is a neighbourhood that borders central Athens and is home to PAS Galatsi and Koronida Galatsiou. The former side even had a small ultra group a few years ago, but nowadays their stand is not as busy.

Psychiko is a club that’s been around for almost 100 years. It was founded by Minor Asia refugees in Neo Psychiko, but the team has been playing away from their base for almost 50 years due to the lack of a football stadium in the area.

It was a typical, quiet Sunday—the sun was shining, and a good number of Psychiko fans had turned up. The home fans were outnumbered. Galatsi Stadium is located inside the beautiful Veikou Grove, below the hill that separates Galatsi from the area of Filothei/Psychiko.

The home side opened the scoring very quickly with a header, and as much as the visiting team tried to equalise, they just couldn’t find the net in the first half. Eventually, the pressure paid off in the second half, as Psychiko managed to score twice, leaving with a much-desired win in the season opener.
